Ballet Log
Overview
Ballet Log has no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything you create — class records, notes, photo logs, photos, saved albums — is stored only on your device and is never sent anywhere.
This policy covers the Ballet Log app on iOS and Android.
Data We Access
📸 Photos
The app may access your photo library when you choose to attach photos to a log or note. Photos are stored on your device only and are never uploaded.
⌚ Health & Fitness
With your permission, the app reads workout data (duration, active calories, and heart rate) from Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android, so it can be shown next to your class records. This is read-only, and health data never leaves your device.
🎵 The Music tab
The Music tab shows a catalogue of ballet class recordings. To display it, your device downloads a file we publish at hyorita.github.io/ballet-log-catalog, and loads album artwork and Apple’s 30-second previews from Apple’s servers. A copy of the catalogue ships inside the app, so the tab also works offline.
These are ordinary web requests. Nothing about you is sent with them: no account, no identifier, and no record of which accompanists you look at, which albums you save, or which previews you play. Saved albums are kept on your device only.
As with any web request, the servers that answer them can see your device’s IP address and general device type. Those servers are GitHub, which hosts the catalogue file, and Apple, which serves artwork and previews; what they do with that is covered by their own privacy policies. We receive nothing from them.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal identification information (name, email, etc.)
- Location data
- Analytics or usage tracking
- Advertising identifiers
- Anything you write, photograph, or save in the app
Data Retention & Deletion
Ballet Log stores your class records, notes, photo logs, and photos only on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server of ours. Your data stays on your device until you delete it yourself.
How to delete your data
- Per-item deletion — Tap the delete button on any class, note, or photo log detail screen to remove it permanently.
- Clear all app data — Android: Settings → Apps → Ballet Log → Storage → Clear data. iOS: delete the app.
- Uninstall — Removing the app deletes all on-device data (backup files exported externally are not affected).
- Health permissions — Revoke read access anytime from iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Health) or the Android Health Connect app. The app does not store health data itself.
- Backup files — Backup files you exported to external storage (e.g. iCloud Drive, Google Drive, email) must be deleted by you from that location.
Third-Party Services
The app integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind. The services it does reach are:
- Apple Health / Health Connect — read-only access to workouts you have authorised.
- GitHub Pages — hosts the music catalogue file.
- Apple (iTunes / Apple Music) — serves album artwork and 30-second previews. Opening an album hands off to the Apple Music app or website.
Each is governed by its own privacy policy.
Children’s Privacy
The app is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
